As an Artsmark partner Carousel can support your school on its Artsmark journey. Our programme of work for young people and schools has been developed to be accessible, inspiring and varied.
What is Artsmark?
Artsmark is a clear framework for teachers and education professionals to plan, develop and evaluate their arts and cultural provision. It is awarded by Arts Council England and comes in three levels, Silver, Gold and Platinum.
It is flexible and can be adapted to your setting, it is light on paperwork and brings the value of arts and creativity into the classroom and across your whole setting.
You can apply for Artsmark here.
Carousel and Artsmark
Schools are asked in their commitment to Artsmark to connect with Artsmark partners to help plan and deliver their activities over the year ahead. Carousel can support you with this in a number of ways:
CPD and training for Teachers
We can run twilight sessions in music technology, film, animation and photography. Our staff and learning disabled artists can work with you to develop ways to use art and creativity in the classroom.
We have a range of workshops in film, foley and sound effects, music, singing, animation and photography. These can help to increase your arts provision in your school and connect to other areas of the curriculum.
Visits and presentations
A visit from Carousel might involve a film screening from the Oska Bright Film Festival, a performance by a Carousel band or a talk by one of our experienced learning disabled artists about their art. This can involve your whole school and helps connect what you are doing to the arts and creative industries outside of your setting.
We have resources which you can use in your school for free, including a teaching resource for learning about disability and the social model.
A great way to embed the arts and creativity into your setting is through the delivery of Arts Award. Carousel were awarded Good Practice Centre status in 2017 and our programmes of work support the delivery of Discover, Bronze, Silver and Gold Arts Awards. See here for more information.
