Live Arts

Carousel supports learning disabled artists to develop live performance work to reach as wide an audience as possible.

In 2011, we set up a choir of learning disabled young adults, The Carousel Singers.  The choir performed the live element of Gold Run, a production created in partnership with Glyndebourne and Pallant House Gallery inspired by the history of the Paralympic Games. During 2012, Gold Run was performed at Glyndebourne Opera House, Brighton’s Corn Exchange and Chichester Festival Theatre.See the Gold Run website here for more information about Gold Run.

The Carousel Singers are keen to take advantage of offers to perform to new audiences, including in July 2012 a performance to an audience of 10,000 people at the official Torch Relay show in Brighton and Hove.

Currently, The Carousel Singers are working with a range of music leaders to develop their skills and ideas for a major new production.

"What a truly fantastic premiere of Gold Run! The show was brilliant, a great mix of music, movement and video production and lots of humour. Congratulations to the whole cast and team at Carousel in creating this truly unique piece"
Peter Chivers, Head of Brighton and Hove Music and Arts Service
