Sharing Our Skills
- We are working with Mencap and Brighton Dome and Festival to create an international event to bring people together to start talking about the quality of learning disability led arts.
- We worked with Inventura in Prague in November 2011 on their conference called Conquering Public Spaces, the European Conference we co-facilitated with Inventura in Prague in November 2011.
Training
Are you interested in working with Carousel as a volunteer to learn about our arts work, getting practical experiences as well as training? If so our Volunteer Training Course might be for you.
The course runs over 16 weeks from September to December 2013 and offers the opportunity to volunteer on a number of our projects. You will be supporting people with a learning disability to build and develop their art skills. You will be a member of a key group of ten volunteers that we'll train in our approach to making the creative arts accessible. The training is led by highly experienced learning and non learning disabled practitioners.
The course runs in the evenings, one to two evenings a week.
On conclusion our volunteers will be equipped to
* continue to volunteer with Carousel on a range of projects building skills and experience
* apply for the Carousel Apprenticeship Places as they become available

Quotes from 2012 Volunteer Training Course participants
In watching, listening to and experiencing the art that Carousel facilitates, my expectations grew very high and this was projected onto everyone I worked with during the practical projects. The boundless passion and creativity I've witnessed at Carousel has really inspired me.
Gabrielle Hudyk
I have always believed passionately in the importance of creative expression for all individuals, but this course has helped me to thing about how other people experiencing the product of someone's creativity can have a profound effect on influencing people's attitude to help create positive change.
